The City of New Haven Engineering Department handles a variety of permits. On this page, you will find the current cost of permits and the requirements needed to apply for the permits.
The City of New Haven requires all of the above permits to have a bond. The company that is performing the work is liable and therefore required to be bonded with the City of New Haven as the certificate holder. If your company is not bonded with the City of New Haven, contact your insurance agency and acquire this before you submit your permit.

Right-of-Way (ROW) permits are required anytime work (dig or cut or bore) will be done in the City of New Haven's Right of Way. View the Right-Of-Way Cut Permit-RC-1 (PDF) to get started.

Oversized/overweight loads that will be using the City of New Haven roads are required to apply for a Special Hauling Permit (PDF). The current cost for this permit is $50.
Special events, such as a run/walk event, a concert, a block party or any event that will require the use of Police Officers, barricades or closing of roads are required to apply for a Special Event Permit (PDF). This permit has special directions attached explaining any cost or bond that will be required
